Wow. It's a good thing this story didn't hit right at the holiday season. It would have been turned into a made for TV movie. If you think you've seen it all, just take a look at the garage sale circuit. An 80 year old woman in Auburn, California was busted by police for violating a local ordinance that limited the number of yard sales one can have in a year. It seems that she had already had her quota of two sales this year. Pauline Liles was trying to sell off her belongings to move to Tennessee where her husband is waiting for her. She lived in her current town of Holly Hills for sixty years. I imagine she has a lot of stuff to sell.
Now the extenuating circumstances are where it gets interesting. The city was already in the process of upping the number of garage sales to four per year. Oh, it was also mentioned that this lady's husband has been immobilized by a stroke. He has already been moved to Tennessee. She just needed to get things handled on the back end before joining him.
Reports seem to vary, but it seems like things got sort of ugly. You can check out the whole story HERE.
