    Farberware Coffee Pot

If you like coffee and have been around for a while, you have probably owned a Farberware coffee pot at some point.  If not, then your parents might have.  This is the coffee pot I remember from my days growing up.  I could hear it percolating in the morning and smell the fresh brewed coffee throughout the entire house.

It is kind of nice that even with all of the fancy coffee pots available today, Farberware coffee pots seem to be experiencing a huge resurgence in popularity.  You can find them selling on Amazon, but the selection is actually better, in my opinion on eBay.  You are also a lot more likely to find individual parts being sold for vintage coffee pots on eBay.  Right now, I've got one of the large 12 cup coffee makers sitting in my garage.  I was all ready to clean it up and brew up a pot when I realized that I had lost the power cord!  I guess I might be ordering one if I can't come across one at a garage sale.

If you are an eBay seller, these are a nice find for you when you hit yard sales and estate sales.  Mostly estate sales really for this one.  It seems that a lot of people today do not have much of an appreciation for percolated coffee.  They prefer the whiz bang buttons and timers that come with most of the newer automatic drip coffee pots.  My personal experience is that the newer coffee pots tend to have a much shorter life span than those old classics.  They are relatively cheap in most cases though, so people just go out and buy another one.

This sure is not to say that the old percolators do not have a following.  I'd say that there is a very nice group of coffee traditionalists (?) who really prefer these coffee pots.  It must be true, because they sell very well on eBay.

For buyers, the prices really are not that bad compared to what you could easily spend on top end automatic pots.  A Farberware 55 cup commercial coffee urn recently sold for under one hundred dollars.  That isn't a bad deal at all.  Smaller Farberware coffee posts sold for prices that are quite comparable to other coffee makers.

For me, there is a strong connection to these old pots.  I really am going to get myself another cord to make the one I have functional again.  I doubt that I would ever worry about getting one of these newer automatic coffee makers fixed unless I somehow found myself owning one of those thousand dollar models.
